  • Vintage Vegas Video from the 60's

Posted on February 14, 2012 by Jack Potts

I found a really cool video from Las Vegas that is from around 1962... (The Silver Slipper sign in the video says 1962, so I am assuming this is the date - time 2:10) The video and sound quality is great. Does anyone know the name/artist of the song that is played in the background?

This video also has some good footage of "The Mint". Did you know that The Mint was purchased by Binions and they knocked out part of wall between the Casinos to join them? The next time you are in Binions, take a look and you can totally tell that they joined two buildings.

  • Poker Pro Huck Seed Wins $670K on Video Poker

Posted on August 5, 2011 by Jack Potts

Professional Poker Player Huck Seed, most notably known for winning the 1996 WSOP Main Event, recently won $670,000 playing video poker at Aria Casino in Las Vegas.  The game was $100 8/5 Bonus Poker and the jackpot for the royal flush starts out at $400,000, but that amount progressively increases with every hand bet.  This machine required 5 credits to play for the progressive jackpot, therefore Huck was betting $500/hand!  If you look at the credits, he had around $40,000 in machine when the royal hit.

Many of the top poker pros have been shifting from Bellagio to the Aria Poker Room in recent months.

  • MGM Grand Lion's Share Progressive

Posted on July 13, 2011 by Jack Potts

Have you ever walked through the MGM Grand and noticed a slot machine that looks a bit out of place?  The machine is from the early 90's and it's called the Lions Share  Progressive with a jackpot that is currently at an estimated $2.2 million dollars.

The progressive jackpot has never been hit and state law prevents MGM Resorts International from removing the machine until the jackpot is hit.  Theoretically the jackpot should have been won a long time ago.  Some people estimate that the house edge is somewhere around negative 800-1500% because of the jackpot.  The other interesting thing about this machine is that you will be paid the full $2.2 million dollar amount if you hit it and not receive annual payments like the new progressive machines.

The machine is located outside the high limit slot room among $1 and $5 slots.  The machine is a dollar machine and it takes $3 per spin to play for the progressive.  If you do manage to win some money on this machine and press the cashout button, you will have to wait for a handpay because this machine does not have TITO (Ticket In Ticket Out)....  its too old for this technology!  It has also been reported that the bill acceptor will not take many new$5's and $20's.  $100's seem to work fine.

So, next time you are in the MGM, look for this machine and try your luck...  You never know, you might just hit it!

  • Hard Rock Steak & Shrimp for $7.77 Review

Posted on April 6, 2010 by Jack Potts

We recently went to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino for the secret menu item $7.77 Steak & Shrimp at Mr. Lucky's 24-7.   This deal is not listed on the menu, you need to ask for it.  It is available 24 hours a day.

It comes with a side salad, 8 ounce flat iron steak, 3 grilled jumbo shrimp and garlic mashed potatoes.

The side salad was very fresh, came in a chilled salad plate and had an array of mixed veggies.   I had it with ranch dressing on the side.

I ordered the steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly.  Good flavor and the right amount of salt.

The grilled shrimp were very good.  I could tell that they were fresh and it really enhanced my overall satisfaction of the meal.

The garlic mashed potatoes were great.  Not too overpowering and a nice starch to accompany this protein feast.

My server was Paige.  She was very pleasant, kept my diet coke filled and did not bother me more than she needed too.  The manager also stopped by to ask how everything was.

If you are looking for a good steak meal for less than 10 bucks, this is by far the best deal for a cheap steak dinner in Las Vegas.

  • $400K TDB Video Poker Hit at Wynn

Posted on April 5, 2010 by Jack Potts

We came across this photo that has been circulating around the net of a massive hit at Wynn.  The game is Triple Double Bonus Video Poker and the jackpot is for $400,000.  Not a bad hit!

This machine was a $100 machine that takes 5 credits to optimize the pay schedule, therefore the player was betting $500/hand.

What is also interesting about this hit was that it was a total redraw.  No cards were held on the original deal.

If you have a photo of a nice casino win, email us at tips@vegasbuzz.com with the pic and a brief story and we will post it!  The amount of the win is not important, we just want exciting stories.
