  • The Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino Construction Comes to a Halt

Posted on September 1, 2009 by Jack Potts

    Cosmopolitan Resort Casino

The $3.9 billion Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino site located at 3700 Las Vegas Blvd. South was scheduled to open its doors this December. However, due to delays with the construction of the Cosmopolitan, the opening of the Resort and Casino has been pushed back to an unidentified date in 2010.

There is still no actual date scheduled for the opening at this time and it is looking unrealistic to believe that this project will even be finished in the next year. According to the Cosmopolitan website, construction delays are a result from the economic decline. The fact that the project has experienced constant work delays from the start, and now has major financial trouble does not look good for this building on the Strip. In reality the project still does not have an actual date scheduled for the opening.

Cosmopolitan homebuyers are frustrated that the project is still under construction, considering they were supposed to have possession in just a few months. The delay of the opening for Cosmopolitan Resort Casino has brought forward lawsuits against the project. People who have already purchased properties claim numerous breaches of contract, and now want their money back.  More than $200 million in deposits have been reported to be collected already for the development. The lawsuits have since been consolidated into a single case against the Cosmopolitan with more than 400 plaintiffs.

When the day finally comes, buyers could consequently wind up with different looking units than originally purchased. The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino will reportedly be managed by Global Hyatt Corporation, with the hotel opening as the Grand Hyatt Las Vegas.

Temperatures consistently reached over 100 F last week marking the end of typically the hottest month in Las Vegas. With the heat still turned up on Vegas, it is going to be another hot week, with temperatures in the high 90’s.

With temperatures scorching last week in Las Vegas, people were looking for a place to cool off. The Mandalay Bay Beach is said to have the best pool areas in Las Vegas. Mandalay Bay is located on 11 acres with real sand beaches and plenty of beautiful people in skimpy outfits. Mandalay Bay Beach provides the ultimate in ocean feel in the middle of the desert for both ladies and gentlemen of all ages. If you want to escape from the heat the Mandalay Bay Beach offers a beachside Casino. The beach resort surrounded by hundreds of palm trees also makes it own waves, which are big enough to surf.  While guests are hanging out by the pool, they can enjoy live music from artists such as Chicago, Joss Stone, Ziggy Marley, Foreigner and Pat Benatar have recently played.

Another great place to escape the summer heat in Las Vegas is the pool at the Flamingo. This older Vegas Casino is not quite as visually impressive as the newer resorts on the Strip, but it does have one of the best pool areas in Las Vegas. The Flamingo pool offers a gorgeous tropical landscape that will definitely help people enjoy the relaxation time of the day form the sometimes busy Las Vegas pace.
