The last couple of years saw the unstoppable rise of a teen prodigy in the world of dance music. Yes, we are talking of Avicii, who has taken the music world by storm. He now enjoys the reputation of being one of the best DJs in the world. Tim Bergling, the real face behind Avicii, was born in Stockholm, Sweden on September 8th of 1989. He is a remixer, DJ and a music producer.
Avicii was interested in music from a very young age, but he never played any instrument. Later, he started creating music on computer, and then he realised that this is what he always wanted to do. The Swedish DJ Avicii started his career at a young age of 18 by creating music for a video game. Within a short span of 3-4 years, Avicii has scaled heights of success, and now, he is reckoned as one of the most successful DJs in the world.
Avicii got his first international break in 2008, when he won the BBC radio 1 show, Pete Tong’s fast track competition. He then got his track “Manman” released which helped him bag international attention. The very next year in 2009, he went on to claim the title of Breakthrough DJ/producer in top 100 issue of DJ Magazine. By this time, he had already done a brilliant work remixing the music of iconic personalities like Dizzee Rascal, Guetta and Tiesto.
The year 2010 saw Avicii scaling new heights of popularity, and he created outstanding music that rocked the world of dance music. He released an album, in collaboration with another famous Swedish DJ John Dahlback, which was titled “Don’t hold back”. This earned him a lot of fame and applause. In the same year, he worked with some international music personalities like the DJs Sebastian Ingrosso and Tiesto. The project, which earned him the monumental international reputation that he now enjoys, was titled “Seek Bromance”. This was the vocal version of his famous music piece “Bromance”. This title was an international chartbuster and was ranked in top 20 in many countries such as United Kingdom, Sweden, France and Belgium.
The year 2011 was a landmark year in the career of Avicii. He created a track named “Sunshine” in collaboration with David Guetta. This track went on to get nominated for a Grammy award. In the same year, Avicii released his biggest ever hit titled “Levels” which topped the charts all over the world. The track reached top ten in many countries including Denmark, Ireland, Bosnia, Austria and Belgium. “Levels” has been the most notable song of Avicii and was written by Avicii himself along with Ash Pournouri. It contains a vocal sample from the famous Etta Jones song “Something’s got a hold on me”. Avicii was ranked no. 6 by DJ Magazine in the list of top 100 DJs in the world.
In the year 2012, Avicii’s single called “Last Dance” was showcased on the popular BBC Radio 1 show. He also performed at many music festivals, the most prominent among them is the Ultra Music Festival. The popularity of Avicii can be judged by the fact that he has achieved 2 million followers on Facebook. He has created a song “2 million” to commemorate this achievement, and it is available for free download on his SoundCloud.
